BIBLE STUDY

TOPIC:  CHANGE OF IDENTITY.

BIBLE READING Romans 8 1-17.
TEXT: 2 Corinthians 5:17.

INTRODUCTION:

There is a popular saying that “one constant thing in life is change”. But this change could either be good or bad, godly or ungodly.

While good and godly change gives birth to progress and perfection in godliness, bad and ungodly change  metamorphoses into imperfection and eternal condemnation. But in this context, we are looking at a change for good and godliness.

THE EVIDENCE OF A CHANGE IDENTITY:

1). Evidence of newness: In our text today, we saw that when a man is in Christ he became a new man his old passed away – (2 Corinthians 2:17) KJV

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2). Evidence of transformation of mindset (perceptions): -(Romans 12:2)

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

3). Evidence of recreated spirit.

(Romans 8:9 b) .….Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

4).  Evidence of peaceful dispositions – (Philippians 4:7).

And the peace of God, which Passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

5). Evidence of change of will and interest -(Galatians. 2:20).

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Also in (1 John 5:14) the bible says;
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.

6).  Evidence of restrictions in thoughts and desiring* -(Philippians 4:8)

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

CONCLUSION:

A change man in Christ must be certified, outstanding and a change agent for godliness – (Galatians 5:25) “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit”.

PRAYER:

May the power of the Holy spirit quicken our mortal body for mortification unto godliness in Jesus name.
